This biennial event convened policymakers, industry and advocacy organizations to reflect on the future of transportation in conversation with UC Davis Professor Dan Sperling and Union of Concerned Scientists President Gretchen Goldman.
The conference took place in the context of a challenging public policy climate. Undoubtedly, the EV industry and its partners are facing headwinds. But the audience was eager to hear from an automaker that runs toward the challenges and is optimistic about the road ahead.
As RJ reminded the audience, the end state remains clear: the world is electrifying and Rivian is bullish on the pace of the transition. From the expansion of the Rivian Adventure Network to the launch of R2, which was on display at the event, Rivian’s progress is part of this bigger story. Forward-thinking public policy can help by influencing the long-term investment decisions industry and creating push factors, through consumer incentives and other mechanisms, that accelerate our collective progress.
Closing the conversation with Rivian’s signature framing for long-term decision-making, RJ shared the importance of thinking about our kids’ kids’ kids–not just in building the company but in seeking common ground and inspiration in a moment when both can seem hard to find.
