How Google Cast Works
Using Google Cast is easy: To get started, ensure your vehicle is parked, and that your phone (or tablet) is connected to your Rivian’s Wi-Fi hotspot. Then, simply tap the Google Cast icon on your phone or tablet screen. Once selected, your car will appear as a casting option. Just tap "Rivian” on the screen to initiate casting, and your app's video will appear on the car screen with accompanying sound.
You'll have control over playback through the vehicle’s display, enabling you to play, pause or skip ahead using the large touchscreen. You can also respond to texts and calls on your phone, without disrupting your viewing or draining your phone's battery. If you shift into Drive mode, the video will pause automatically for safety.
How YouTube works
In addition to Google Cast, we're excited to offer a native YouTube app in your Rivian’s center display in the coming months. Just head to the YouTube tab within the new Video Application in your center display to browse, search, and play content. As the world’s largest video library, YouTube offers an extensive music catalog, how-to videos and more.

Improving your in-vehicle entertainment experience
We worked closely with the teams at Google and YouTube to bring these deeper integrations into Rivian's software platform. These features will be accessible to new and existing Rivian R1T and R1S models with a simple over-the-air update coming soon. With our vertically integrated hardware and software stack, our vehicles continually improve over time through regular software updates. We're excited to offer even more entertainment options to Rivian owners as we continue to build on our world-class vehicle experience.
