Know Before You Go:
■ The majority of your time on this trail is at high elevation. Plan ahead for changeable weather, high exposure, and low oxygen levels. Always pack sufficient supplies and emergency medical gear for everyone in the group, and plan for potential contingencies.
■ The terrain is rugged, yet fragile - especially the alpine tundra. Always stay on designated trails, and be mindful of your impact.
■ Wildlife abound in the area, from bears to bighorns and mountain goats. Do not approach or interact with wildlife.
■ Mine, cabin, and cliff edge terrain can be unstable. Stay aware of your surroundings.
■ Trail access and status can be variable. Check with the local management district before planning a trip to check if permits or other approvals are required to access trails: USFS, White River National Forest, Dillon Ranger District.
