In partnership with The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the Illinois Office of Tourism and adventure lifestyle publisher Matador Network, Rivian had the opportunity to celebrate Route 66 as part of “Illinois Recharged: Real Stories on Route 66.”
This campaign highlights a future-forward way of enjoying the historic highway while showcasing local businesses and attractions throughout the state.
Three travel influencers and friends—Tonia Hope, Phil Clavert and Brian McIntosh—started their journey at the Rivian Chicago Space, where a custom-wrapped Rivian R1S was unveiled. Over the course of a 300-mile journey, the travelers visited local businesses and artists, notable landmarks and historic sites throughout the state, eventually ending their trip at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge in Granite City. In addition to highlighting sustainable travel within the state of Illinois, the series also celebrates Route 66 ahead of its centennial anniversary in 2026.
All three episodes of Illinois Recharged: Real Stories on Route 66 featuring the travelers in the R1S are now available to stream on The Roku Channel, as well as Enjoy Illinois' YouTube Channel.
