Claire McDonough sits down with Abhirup Roy at Reuters

Rivian CFO Claire McDonough joined Reuters U.S. Autos Correspondent Abhirup Roy at the Reuters Automotive USA Conference on Wednesday, October 29 for a conversation about the landscape of U.S. electric vehicle manufacturing.

Claire shared more about the outlook for EVs, the company’s expansion into Georgia, and why she’s incredibly excited for R2.

“We like to say that while we expect R2 will be roughly half the cost of R1, it’s certainly not half the vehicle,” Claire said.

She shared that vertical integration has allowed Rivian to streamline efficiencies, going so far as to note that cost has been taken out of every single step in the process for R2. Claire also confirmed that R2 remains on track to be launched in the first half of 2026.
