Our latest update is here to help you feel even more secure in (or away from) your vehicle and comfortable behind the wheel. It includes a top owner-requested security feature, better visibility on dark roads, and greater control over your climate settings.
Gear Guard Live CamÂ
We created the Gear Guard security system to offer greater peace of mind during your adventures, far away from home, or just in your driveway. The system includes high-resolution cameras embedded around your vehicle, physical cables that secure your gear, and an attentive (but friendly) animation on the center display. With this update, you can now see what’s happening in and around your vehicle from almost anywhere, right from the palm of your hand through the Rivian mobile app.
Live Cam comes in handy in the case of an alarm notification—you can review camera feeds when the alarm is triggered—but it’s also useful when your vehicle is parked at a trailhead or a busy train station.
Gear Guard Live Cam is available for first- and second-generation vehicles and supported by our Connect+ subscription, which allows you to get the connectivity you need from anywhere. Make sure you have the latest version of the Rivian app installed to access this feature.
Adaptive Driving Beam updatesÂ
Dynamic Headlamp Leveling is now available for second-generation R1S and R1T. This feature creates a stable diffusion of light from the car’s headlights regardless of the vehicle’s position, so you can see straight ahead in the dark, even on bumpy terrain.
Rivian is an early adopter of adaptive driving beam technology, and we’re continuing to explore helpful features that make the most of the new lighting hardware in our Gen 2 vehicles.
The lighting in second-generation vehicles was completely redesigned to bring the latest headlight technology available to customers. Last month we launched Adaptive High Beams, which automatically adjust your brights based on what your vehicle senses around it. For example, they will divert your lights away from oncoming cars while keeping the road illuminated, and the brights will turn on if your vehicle doesn’t sense streetlights around.
Three Distinct Climate Zones Â
Until now, R1 vehicles had dual zone HVAC for the front driver and passenger seats. With this update, we’re introducing Tri-Zone HVAC, which gives you the ability to set individual climate settings for your driver seat, front passenger seat, and rear passenger seats, so everyone can ride in personalized comfort. In addition, passengers can view and adjust the temperature setting for the second- and third-row seats through the rear display.
New Drive Mode AnimationsÂ
We've added new animations to help you better understand the changes you make to the Ride Height, Brake Regen, Stability, and Ride Feel settings in Drive Modes. When you update a setting, an animation shows you helpful visual information about the setting you are changing and how it affects your vehicle—so you can choose the optimal settings for your ride, whether you’re off-roading or in the carpool line.
Our vehicle software keeps getting better, thanks to the direct feedback we receive from the Rivian community and the updates coming today were largely informed by it. We can’t wait to see what these new features unlock for you on your adventures ahead.
