Yesterday, we announced the full trims and pricing for the all-new R2, a mid-size electric SUV designed to bring Rivian’s signature design, performance, and technology to a significantly broader audience.

For those who couldn’t join us at the Electric Roadhouse in Austin, here is a recap of everything we shared about the newest addition to our community.

What we revealed

We're introducing an array of trims tailored to your driving style and everyday needs, the R2 lineup offers up to 656 horsepower and a Rivian-estimated range of up to 345 miles:

R2 Performance: Debuting in Spring 2026, Performance with Launch Package starts at $57,990. This dual-motor AWD powerhouse is our most capable R2 on- and off-road, delivering 656 horsepower and launching from 0-60 mph in as quick as 3.6 seconds.

R2 Premium: Arriving in late 2026 and starting at $53,990, this elevated trim features a dual-motor AWD setup that produces 450 horsepower and an EPA-estimated range of up to 330 miles.

R2 Standard: Coming in the first half of 2027 and starting at $48,490, this single-motor RWD Long Range configuration delivers 350 horsepower and up to 345 miles of range. An additional Standard variant starting around $45,000 will follow in late 2027.

New Colors and Interiors

We are expanding our palette with three stunning new exterior colors inspired by the environments R2 was designed to explore: the shifting Pacific blues of Catalina Cove, the shimmering Esker Silver, and the warm, layered Half Moon Grey. Inside, R2 reflects nature-inspired minimalism with new interior environments, including the upcycled Birch wood textures of Black Crater Signature and the open, airy Coastal Cloud Signature.

What R2 will deliver

Built for the big trips but perfected for everyday adventures, R2 offers a more accessible price point without a compromise in capability. It means:

Capability: Nearly 2,000 lbs lighter than the R1 and sitting on a shorter wheelbase, R2 is incredibly responsive and nimble in urban environments. Despite its footprint, it retains our true off-road DNA with a best-in-class stance featuring 9.6 inches of ground clearance.

Open-Air Freedom & Smart Storage: We've maximized every square inch for real life. The hallmark rear drop glass lowers completely into the liftgate with the touch of a button, allowing you to immerse yourself in the outside world or easily haul long gear like surfboards. With 90.1 cubic feet of total enclosed storage, dual gloveboxes, and fold-flat rear seats, it seamlessly adapts to your gear and camping trips.

Transformational Technology: R2 is an AI-defined companion. It is equipped with 200 sparse TOPS of edge AI compute, our new context-aware Haptic Halo Wheels on the steering wheel, and built-in hardware for Rivian Autonomy+—bringing L2+ hands-free assisted driving to 3.5 million miles of roads across the U.S. and Canada.

R2 trims and pricing noted in this press release are for USA-market vehicles. More information on Canadian-spec vehicles, packages and pricing will come closer to market launch in Canada.

Prices shown do not include all applicable taxes and fees.

Actual vehicle capability will depend on selected options and trim. Torque, horsepower, and acceleration timing estimates vary based on battery, tire, drive modes, vehicle load and weather. Official EPA values are noted — some range estimates are preliminary estimates based on the EPA test cycle and are not official EPA values. The EPA estimates range through a series of standardized lab tests that mimic real world conditions. Factors including tires, drive modes, HVAC settings and accessories can all have an impact on range. 345 miles of Rivian-estimated range expected for R2 Standard RWD Long Range. 0-60 acceleration in 3.6 seconds (with 21” wheel), 50-70 mph in as quick as 1.55 seconds and 656 horsepower available with R2 Performance.

Charging speeds vary based on battery capacity, state of charge, and temperature, charger capacity, weather, site-specific conditions, and more. Stated speeds reflect optimal conditions.

Autonomy+ features may vary based on vehicle model and hardware. Autonomy+ product features remain available during the lifetime of feature support for the hardware on the vehicle at delivery.

Assistive driving feature. Universal Hands-Free will not stop or slow down for traffic lights or stop signs. Review the Universal Hands-Free software release notes and Rivian Owner's Guide for additional detail about this feature when available.

Driver assistance features, including those available through Autonomy+, support the driver but do not replace their judgment or the need to remain attentive and in control of the vehicle at all times.
