The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is the United States’ largest federal land management agency by acreage, responsible for 10% of land in the U.S. and 30% of the nation's minerals. These public lands are places where individuals, families and communities gather to adventure and experience the wonders of the natural world. They encompass every terrain from forests and mountains to arctic tundras and deserts, spanning all 50 states.
The new proposed framework balances how the BLM will manage our public land and water and how it will fulfill the "multiple use and sustained yield" mandate set by Congress. The proposal defines conservation as a "use" under the Federal Lands Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) and places it on equal footing with other land uses such as oil and gas extraction, mining, grazing, recreation and energy development. This is especially important to Rivian, as we are committed to connecting people with the outdoors and supporting the growth of renewable energy production and access. A balanced approach is essential in justly considering the health of our public lands in decision making for these and all types of future uses and developments.
