As our vehicles rolled out to new owners this year, thousands and thousands of spectacular adventure photos rolled in — so we asked Rivian employees to vote for the images they loved most. Here we count down their top 10 photos of 2022.
#10: Clarissa captured this moody transition from fall to winter and the reflection of the lights on the wet pavement from high above. "There aren’t many cars you’d be able to recognize from this far away just by its lights, which makes the Rivian great to photograph," she said.
#9: On his way home to California from a 1,500-mile summer road trip to Glacier National Park, Brandon arrived to the Bonneville Salt Flats just in time for sunrise. "This was a special moment as I got to watch the almost alien landscape unfold from the comfort of my dream vehicle," he said.
#8: Sean took this photo while exploring forest service roads near Mt. Rainier. It was his first time taking his R1T off-road. "We had no destination in mind," he said. "The R1T did so good and was so fun, we went back again two more weekends in a row."
#7: Brendon used the Rivian flashlight from the door of his truck to fill in some of the darker details of this scene. "I took this photo my first week with my R1T. I was working in my garage after dark, when some very thick fog rolled in. I knew it would be a perfect chance to capture a cool photo of the truck," he said. "Overall I was stoked with the final result, and even more stoked on the truck."
#6: Rivian employee Gardner Nichols left his personal R1T at home and took this shot while winter testing in New Zealand. "We were refining calibrations on some of our fun drive modes, and we got to witness an epic sunset while out on the snow flat," he said. "I'm lucky enough that I get to travel to interesting locations to help test and develop our vehicles. I always bring my camera to document, even if it means standing in waist-deep snow to get the right angle."
#5: Joshua was exploring national parks in Utah and couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a sunset photo of his Rivian in its natural habitat. "Side note: I was also secretly exploring locations to propose to my now fiancé, this one was close but opted to propose in Capitol Reef National Park," he said.
#4: Ben took this photo of his friend Larry painting watercolor landscapes on the beach while enjoying a glass of fine wine. "He was truly living his best life," Ben said.
#3: Andrew took this photo on the road leading to the summit of Mt. Evans, the highest paved road in North America. "We drove up on a clear weeknight for some night sky, and R1T photography. This photo was taken at Summit Lake, at an elevation of just under 13,000 feet."
#2: Cody took this drone photo right after taking delivery of his new R1T. "It was my first time getting that far out in the mountains," he said. "I was impressed with my truck and how it handled the snow, mud and rock-covered roads it took to get to that bridge."
#1: Kyson and his son spent a day exploring lava-tube caves in the desert but couldn't resist airing down the tires and driving on some sand dunes on the way home. "Sand mode had just been released a few days prior. It was incredible to drift around in the R1T on the dunes," he said. "The truck is amazing to drive around on roads but in off-road terrain you can truly feel it come alive under you."
We’d like to thank everyone for their submissions, and we can’t wait to see where Rivian drivers go next.
