Today we’re introducing new features that make driving and controlling your vehicle even easier, enhance your vehicle’s performance and ADAS capabilities, and bring more flexibility and customization to the ownership experience.
Enhanced Highway Assist, now available on Gen 2 vehicles
Our new advanced driver assistance system, Enhanced Highway Assist, is rolling out to Gen 2 vehicles. This new feature enables drivers to take their hands off the wheel for extended periods of time when engaged on compatible highways, as long as they’re paying attention to the road. The system controls steering, acceleration, and braking to make driving a less stressful and more comfortable experience—so you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed.
It uses an infrared camera embedded in the interior rearview mirror for driver attention detection, rather than requiring the driver to intermittently touch the steering wheel. The location is intentional and intuitive because the mirror can be adjusted for each driver, which also adjusts the orientation of the camera.

A Brand New Drive Mode for Dual-Motor Performance Vehicles
With this software update, we’ve made performance Dual-Motor vehicles more capable. When Off-Road Mode is selected, Rally Mode is now available. Rally Mode delivers heightened throttle response and crisper steering on almost any terrain, including ice, mud, dirt, or asphalt.
Upgrade Your Performance
Now, you have the flexibility to add a Performance Upgrade to your vehicle after purchase. Dual-Motor (Gen 1 and Gen 2) with a Standard+, Large and Max battery pack are eligible for an upgrade, which can be purchased straight from your Rivian account page or mobile app for a one-time $5,000 payment ($7,200 CAD). The upgrade is delivered via software update to make your vehicle instantly quicker, sportier and more powerful. The Performance Upgrade unlocks 665 horsepower and 829 lb.-ft. of torque, and introduces three new drive modes—Sport, Rally and Soft Sand—in addition to All-Purpose, All-Terrain, and Snow modes.
Wheel Swap
Electric vehicles tend to need less maintenance, but occasionally you do need to change your wheels or tires—especially if you live in a climate where the weather fluctuates between extremes, or if you’d like to alternate between on-road and off-road tires. Different wheels and tires can affect your range estimates, so to get the most accurate reading, your wheel type needs to be reflected correctly in your vehicle settings. That’s why we’re adding the ability for you to change your wheel type in the Settings menu right from your driveway, so you get the most accurate range estimate available.
Details that matter to make driving easier
With this update we’re introducing features that make everyday driving more intuitive:
Go Chime: This new feature provides a chime when the vehicle immediately ahead of a Rivian begins moving—so you have a clear audible cue to resume driving at a stoplight or intersection. It’s available today on Gen 2 vehicles and coming soon to Gen 1.
Side Mirror Auto-Tilt on Reverse: Now, when you shift into reverse, side mirrors on Gen 1 and 2 vehicles will automatically tilt down to reflect the road and curb. This helps protect your wheels and tires while backing up, especially while parallel parking.
Control Chargeport Door from Mobile App: If you forget to close your chargeport door after walking away from your vehicle, you’ll now be able to do it remotely with the tap of a button in the Rivian app.
Tire Puncture Detection: Gen 1 and 2 vehicles will now proactively detect punctures and slow leaks on tires while in motion and notify you as you drive, increasing safety and helping you stay ahead of flat tires.
