Range confidence keeps growing with a charging experience that is fast, seamless—and rapidly expanding.
Access to abundant and high-quality fast charging is incredibly important for mass EV adoption, which is why we’re so focused on expanding the available options.
This spring, Rivian owners will be able to use an adapter to access over 15,000 compatible Tesla Superchargers across North America. This is in addition to the 16,000 existing fast chargers they already have access to through other public charging networks.
Because we handle our charging hardware and software in-house, we can seamlessly integrate most fast chargers—including the Supercharger network—into our charging ecosystem. Our unified digital platforms make it easy to transition between our mobile app and in-vehicle infotainment. This allows Rivian owners to enjoy an end-to-end experience where they can do their trip planning, filter chargers, set route preferences, navigate, and add stops without missing a beat.
Compatible Superchargers will show up in Rivian navigation when you are planning trips, with charger speeds and availability information listed. You’ll also be able to “plug and charge” with automatic billing. Simply plug the charger into the vehicle and charging will begin automatically without having to pull up an app.
Access to the Supercharger network will require an adapter at first, which we will begin shipping to all Rivian owners this spring for free. The North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector used on Superchargers is becoming widely adopted across the industry, so starting in 2025 our vehicles will ship with new, fully integrated NACS hardware.
To keep pace with the scale of EV adoption, we are building out the Rivian Adventure Network, our own network of fast chargers designed to extend access to reliable fast charging across the US.
We are in the initial phase of our network build-out, with over 424 live Rivian Adventure Network chargers open at 70 sites across 22 states. Our network is currently available to Rivian owners, prioritizing places where Rivian drivers travel most.
Later this year, we will open the Rivian Adventure Network to all EV drivers and begin expanding our rollout. We will be adding sites in mature EV markets where more capacity is needed, in charging deserts where access is extremely limited, and in flagship charging destinations near places like Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks.
